Mason Cash Gingerbread Men

When it comes to reliable bakeware it is hard to look past Mason Cash.  The choice of home cooks and bakers for centuries, Mason Cash has been in existence since the 1800’s. There are many childhood memories punctuated by the smell of home baking and the sight of an iconic Mason Cash mixing bowl. That classic design has been in use since 1901 and still to this day maintains its practical use both for amateur bakers at home and the professional pâtissier. So take some time out this mid-term and get baking! Here’s an easy recipe for Gingerbread Men to start you off!   

Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

Step 1

Pre-heat the oven to 180°C/ 350°F fan/ gas mark 5.

Step 2

Mix together the flour, ginger, cinnamon and bicarbonate of soda in a large mixing bowl.

Step 3

Rub the butter together with your fingertips until it looks like breadcrumbs then mix in the sugar.

Step 4

Add the egg and golden syrup and mix with the spoon until it forms a dough. 

Step 5

Tip the dough out onto a clean, lightly floured work surface and knead for a couple of minutes until it is smooth.

Step 6

Lightly flour a rolling pin and roll out the dough so that it is 0.5cm thick. Cut out the gingerbread man shapes using a cookie cutter.

Step 7

Lay the biscuits on a greased baking tray and bake in the oven on a middle shelf for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Decorate with currants, icing or sweets!

Step 8

Eat!
