LAUNCH of new Partnership with Local Blood Cancer Charity

This year we are teaming up with Leukaemia and Lymphoma NI to help raise vital funds and awareness for blood cancer.

This year, we are delighted to announce that we will partner up with Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI to help raise awareness & vital funds for blood cancer research.

Similar to our previous work with Action Cancer, Cash for Kids NI and MacMillan Cancer Care, we will be organising a variety of activities and events across the stores in an effort to boost our fundraising totals.

Stephen McCammon, our Managing Director, voices his enthusiasm regarding the new partnership and what it means to him and the business:

“During 2018 my Dad and our Chairman, Brian McCammon, passed away as a result of acute myeloid leukaemia.  Until that point I had very little awareness of blood cancer.  I now have an understanding of how vital the work carried out locally by Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI is in both research and education

Dad was the heart and soul of this business for many, many years and hence Menarys & Tempest are delighted to partner with Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI this year especially and hope we can raise a significant amount of money for the charity and in his memory.”

With three people in Northern Ireland diagnosed with blood cancer each single day, this staggering statistic further emphasises the detrimental effect this disease has on many families across the country.

Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI is the only charity to date that is solely devoted to extensive blood cancer research to help improve the outcome and quality of life for all patients here and across the globe. All funds raised through Leukaemia & Lymphoma NI help further assist laboratory research, clinical support and education at the Centre for Cancer Research & Cell Biology at Queen’s University, Belfast.

As a result of extensive research, diagnostic and treatment for blood cancer has been enhanced effectively, however, for many patients, most particularly young children and the elderly, the outcome still remains very poor.

Joanne Badger, Co-ordinator for the charity has stated, “We are delighted to partner with such a well renowned retailer, we rely solely on public donations so a partnership like this is a fantastic opportunity to raise vital funds and awareness throughout NI.”
